Before we begin our journey, I'll give you an overview of the course and share all the basics about tea, teaware, and water so that you can start brewing with confidence.
We'll closely examine the teas we'll be working with. You'll learn about the incredible journey they take to arrive at your table. And, you'll discover where to buy good tea.
Teaware doesn't have to be complicated. You will finally learn the basics about kettles, cups, teapots, gaiwans, and all sorts of other teaware you'll use to brew tea.
Did you know your setting impacts your tea? In this part of the course, you'll discover how to prepare both your tea and your space to create the best environment for your ceremony.
Brewing tea is a delicate science. Pouring tea is a graceful art. Here you'll learn all about both. You'll discover how to "listen" to the energy of tea and work with it in your body.

We’ll be working with a couple types of tea in this course: liu bao and shou puerh. In my experience these aged, fermented teas are the easiest to learn to brew with. And they’re delicious! Don't worry if you've never heard of these teas before or have no idea where to find them. I'll connect you with some awesome (and affordable) sources for these teas.
The basics I recommend for the course are tea, a simple pot for brewing, a couple of cups, and something to boil water in. In the first lessons I talk about how to choose the best tea and teaware and places online you can buy them from. We also offer a Gong Fu Starter Kit which includes one 150mL glass pot, two 60mL clay cups, and 30 grams of Liu Bao tea. This is literally everything you need to get started.
