Tea first came into my life back in 2015 when I attended my first tea ceremony. Truthfully, I had no idea what to expect and wasn’t even sure why I was there. But something happened at the ceremony that night. I experienced a profound feeling of connection with myself that I had never felt before.
From the very moment when I took my first mindful sip of tea at that ceremony, I could not have imagined just how quickly my life would change – moving further from stress and deeper into stillness with each nourishing cup of tea.
I desperately wanted to understand what I was feeling, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. So, over the next three years, I embarked on a journey to learn everything I could about tea. I started drinking tea in ceremony and attending private classes each week with my teacher Po of Heaven’s Tea in Portland, OR.
After a year of study and practice, I felt ready to start serving tea to groups of friends and family. After 2 years of practicing that, I created an AirBnb experience offering gong fu tea ceremonies to the public. This quickly became the highest rated experience in Santa Fe and has presented me with the opportunity to lead hundreds of tea ceremonies.
Throughout the course of sitting with my teacher, drinking tea on my own, and leading tea ceremonies, I’ve learned a lot about how to work with tea. And over the past few years, I’ve applied a lot of what I’ve learned to help new tea enthusiasts to start brewing for themselves and cultivate their own relationship with tea.
But in the process, I’ve also heard from many of those people that they need more than just a tea recommendation and a place to buy a pot. They need guidance for how to measure the leaf, brew the tea and serve it. They need a way to ask questions of other people working with tea. They need someone who’s been there and done it to help guide them through the whole process.
That’s why I created this site – to share what I’ve learned along my journey with you. Tea is such an incredible teacher and I truly believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to experience it’s transformative benefits. I’m so glad you’re here and look forward to connecting with you over a cup of tea soon.
